Writing a book can be an incredibly vulnerable, transformative and healing experience, the thought of which can surface many important questions.

Can I self-publish? How long does it take? What should I share? How do I make it authentic? Below are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions we get about the process of unlocking your untold stories.

I have never written anything before. Can I still work with you?

Of course! While we do work with many published authors and emerging writers, we believe that every single person has an important story to tell. Regardless of your level of experience, we are here to help you along your writing journey. 

What can I expect working with you?

Although there are many similarities in the book writing process, every story and every author is different. We like to have an initial Clarity Call with people to hear more about your book goals, then we can provide bespoke and tailored advice about which program or package might be right for you. My stories are currently a collection of pages and diary entries. Can you help me turn that into a book?

That sounds like a promising start! You would be amazed at what we can do with a few simple diary entries. There is the option to work with us 1:1 to bring your book to life, or to take part in one of our intensive group programs or retreats so that we can teach you the skills to do it for yourself. I already have a manuscript. Can you edit it for me?

We sure can - our team of experienced editors and proofreaders can prepare your manuscript or memoir draft for publishing.

How long does it take to write a book?

The ultimate question for any book editing and writing company! And the answer is: it depends. We have worked with clients who have turned their ideas into published pieces within months, others take years. How long the process takes depends on many factors such as what your goals are, where you are on your writing journey and how much writing you would like us to do for you. I don’t want to rush the process and need to go at my own pace. Which program is best for me?

Great question! Being able to unlock and unravel your story at your own pace is really important. If you are an enthusiastic writer and want to go at your own pace while also connecting with a small group of fellow storytellers, we highly recommend our ‘Brilliant’ package.

My story is very personal. How can I make sure its authenticity is maintained?

We offer an emotionally safe space while listening and editing without judgment. We are experienced at intuitively grasping the parts of your story you want to share. At the end of the day, it is your story and you will never have to share anything that you are not comfortable with.

I want to self-publish. Can you help with that?

We have supported a number of clients to self-publish their own books and we would be delighted to do the same for you! Get in touch if you are interested in support to self-publish.

I’m not able to type my story. Can I provide it in another format?

Absolutely. We understand that many stories are not written down or can only be shared verbally. We work with many people to preserve and digitise their handwritten stories and we offer the chance to do a voice or video recording for us to transcribe and edit. 

English is not my first language. Can I still write a book in English?

Of course you can. We have worked with many authors who speak English as a second (or seventh!) language. The writing/editing experience we provide always maintains and supports the uniqueness of your story to make it shine.

I only have hard copies of my photos and art. How will these be included in my book and is there a limit?

Hard copies are carefully hand-scanned by a photo restoration specialist. The scanned copies are used in your book and you can include as many photos, poems, letters, and art pieces as you choose to enhance your story!

Someone I know has lots of great stories or life lessons. Can I gift your editing services to them?

Certainly! We love to create books that reflect all of the unique facets of someone’s life story.
